$1 million grant going to help rural Minnesotans seeking opioid addiction treatment

It will be used to expand substance use disorder treatment in rural areas through the Rural Communities Opioid Response Program

LA CROSSE, Wis (WKBT) – A $1 million grant will help Minnesotans struggling to get treatment for opioid addiction.

Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D) and Sen. Tina Smith (D) announced the University of Minnesota received the grant funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

It will be used to expand substance use disorder treatment in rural areas through the Rural Communities Opioid Response Program.

The funding will be used to reduce unmet treatment needs, increase access to treatment, and prevent addiction through evidence-based programs.
