124-year-old time capsule unearthed in Massachusetts

A 124-year-old time capsule containing remnants from the Civil War was unearthed in Massachusetts.

The Daily Item reports the capsule was buried under a front step of the former Swampscott Middle School, which is being torn down.

The capsule, dated April 28, 1894, contained two newspapers, remnants of Civil War military uniforms, a war medal and names of locals who served in the war.

The items will be assessed at the Northeast Document Conservation Center, and may go on display at Swampscott Town Hall.
