134,000 people trained at Fort McCoy in 2011

SPARTA, Wis. — Officials at a Wisconsin military base say they trained more than 134,000 people in the year that ended Sept. 30.

Fort McCoy trained 134,645 personnel, up from 111,348 in the previous year. The trainees included National Guard troops, Wisconsin State Patrol troopers and active-duty soldiers from all branches of the military.

The fort, which lies between Sparta and Tomah in western Wisconsin, has trained more than 100,000 personnel annually for more than 25 years.
