162 years of the Vernon County Fair

Vernon County's is one of the oldest fairs

Vernon County, Wis. (WKBT) — Sunday was a gorgeous day to be at The Vernon County Fair.
The 162-year-old fair just wrapped this weekend.

Since 1856… despite wars, drought, snow and rain, the Agricultural Society has never failed to hold this annual event.

” Being someone who exhibited at the fair through 4 since I was 4 or 5, when I could. I think that it’s really important to get kids involved with 4-H and learning hard work and how to bring something from home and show it off at the fair. So I think it’s something that we need to keep going. And that’s why I really like to represent the fair and encourage people to come and exhibit at the fair” says Brianna Hall, this year’s “Fairest of the Fair.”

Vernon County’s is one of the oldest fairs in the state and is known for its 4-H competitions, harness racing, truck and tractor pulls and demolition derby among other long-running events.
