2 ex-Town of Dale officials charged with felonies

APPLETON, Wis. (AP) — Two women who were in charge of paying the bills for the Town of Dale are accused of making more than $78,000 in personal purchases with town credit cards.

Former clerk Marcia Kelly faces 29 felony charges while ex-treasurer Erica Siewert is facing 12 felonies. WLUK-TV reports the women admitted to the town board last month their spending dates back to 2006. They’ve both resigned.

According to the criminal complaint, Kelly used town cards to make about $50,000 in purchases at locations including the Ho Chunk Casino in Baraboo and hotels in Wisconsin and Illinois. She allegedly used town funds to pay them off. Siewert allegedly spent more than $28,000 worth of town funds for personal purchases.

Neither woman nor their attorneys would comment after their court appearances Thursday.
