2 injured in crash with semi on HWY 53 near La Crosse County/Trempealeau County line
LA CROSSE COUNTY, WI — One person suffered life-threatening injuries after a minivan collided with a semi near the Hunter’s Bridge on Highway 53 Friday afternoon.
The crash, which happened at about 2:30 p.m. on Friday, closed Highway 53 to traffic in both directions at the La Crosse County/Trempealeau County line for several hours.
The La Crosse Co. Sheriff’s Dept. says 30 year old Jesse Bue of Taylor, WI was northbound on Hwy. 53 when the minivan he was driving completely crossed the center line forcing an oncoming semi into the ditch to avoid a head-on collision. Bue ended up hitting the semi’s trailer.
Tri-State Ambulance says one person in the minivan was flown via MedLink Air to an area hospital with life threatening injuries. Another person in the van was taken by ambulance to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the semi was not injured.
