2 killed in wrong-way crash on I-94 in Wisconsin
DELAFIELD, Wis. (AP) — Squad cars tried in vain to stop a wrong-way driver on Interstate 94 before a crash that left two drivers dead in Waukesha County.
WISN-TV reports at least four squad cars were sent to stop the wrong-way vehicle, but it collided with another car in the town of Delafield early Saturday. A deputy witnessed the crash just has he was arriving.
Both drivers died at the scene. The wrong-way driver was a 44-year-old Pewaukee woman. Her name has not been released. The other was 41-year-old Brian St. Germaine of Watertown, a husband and father of three. His wife says he was headed to work.
Investigators told WISN-TV they saw no immediate signs that alcohol was a factor but are still investigating.
Eastbound I-94 was closed for more than three hours.
