$2 million available for nonprofit organizations in La Crosse

Grant money comes from the American Rescue Plan Act

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – $2 million is available for La Crosse’s nonprofits.

The city has unveiled the grant process and eligibility requirements to apply for American Rescue Plan Act grant money.

The La Crosse Community Foundation is partnering with the city to distribute the money.

“Our hope is that as we get past this impact that with having these dollars and this resource that that negative impact will be either, we’ll be able to heal those wounds but also walk away in a better position,” said Julie Emslie, the city’s economic development coordinator.

The foundation has formed a distinct and independent grants committee to separate the process from its foundation process.

Funding is available for projects that address public health issues or provide services to disproportionately impacted communities.

And for unrestricted requests for nonprofits working to recover from the negative economic impacts of the pandemic.

Proposals are due by Dec. 8.
