2014 Steppin’ Out in Pink raises $370,000

Event raises money for, awareness of breast cancer

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — On Saturday, 6,300 walkers, including 350 breast cancer survivors, participated in the 9th annual Steppin’ Out in Pink event.

Debbie Kroner, Gundersen Medical Foundation special events manager and Steppin’ Out in Pink chair, said as of Tuesday, at least $370,000 has been raised with pledges still coming in.

“It is rewarding to see co-workers, friends, families and businesses come together for a common goal – raising awareness and money to detect and defeat breast cancer right here in our community,” Kroner said.

Last year, 6,300 walkers participated and $400,000 was raised for breast cancer research and to help area cancer patients.
