2016 Football Preview: Cochrane-Fountain City Pirates

COCHRANE-FOUNATIN CITY, Wis. (WKBT) — The Cochrane-Fountain City Pirates finished with a 5-5 record last season, where all five wins came in the Dairyland Conference.

Returning this year is senior quarterback Tristan Schmidtknecht, who will start under center for the third straight season.  Last year, he was second in the Dairyland in passing yards and passing touchdowns.

It’s that type of experience the Pirates hope can get them over the hump and back on top in conference.

“It’s just a comfort level that he’s probably not going to panic if we put in our first year players.  He’s going to go out and go through his reads and make something happen,” said C-FC head coach Steve Lyga.

Schmidtknecht also talked about his role in helping younger players progress.

“I can help the younger players as well as having my other seniors that have played three years.  We can coach up the younger guys,” said Schmidtknecht.
