3 killed in crash in western Iowa
HARLAN, Iowa (AP) — Authorities have released the names of three people killed in a collision that happened while a trooper was conducting a traffic stop near Harlan in western Iowa.
KETV-TV in Omaha reports the accident happened on U.S. Highway 59 Wednesday morning. The Iowa State Patrol says a trooper had pulled over a vehicle and a southbound car moved into the northbound lane to pass the trooper and collided nearly head-on with an SUV.
Two people in the passing car, Marcella Schwery and Robert Schwery, of Panama, were killed. The SUV driver, Christina Cotant, of Avoca was also killed in the crash.
