3 workers injured at Iowa ethanol plant
NEVADA, Iowa (AP) — Authorities say three workers were injured when a steam pipe burst at an ethanol plant in Nevada in central Iowa.
KCCI-TV in Des Moines reports rescue crews were called to Lincolnway Energy LLC on a report of an explosion Monday afternoon.
The plant’s general manager and president, Rick Brehm, says a power surge caused a steam pipe in a shed to break, burning three workers who were doing maintenance.
Nevada Fire Chief Dana Wipperman says the workers were taken to an Ames hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Telephone calls by The Associated Press to the plant and the fire department were not returned Monday afternoon.
