MONDOVI, Wis. (WKBT) — Four people suffered non-life-threatening injuries Tuesday when an SUV crashed into a U-turning police car on Hwy. 10 in Mondovi.

The accident occurred shortly before 7 a.m. near Monroe Street when Mondovi police officer Tucker Teige, 25, of Eau Claire made a U-turn in front of a 2003 Oldsmobile Bravada driven by Amber Evans, 45, of Mondovi, according to a news release from the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office.

Teige had been parked on Hwy. 10 in a 2021 Ford Explorer squad car pointing east when he attempted to run around to stop a westbound vehicle that had failed to yield to emergency vehicles responding to a crash in Eau Claire County, according to the release.

Teige made the U-turn in front of Evans’ vehicle, which T-boned the squad, the release said.

Evans and two passengers — 47-year-old James Evans and 18-year-old Lydia Evans — were taken by ambulance to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the release. Teige also sought medical attention for non-life-threatening injuries, the release said.

Assisting Buffalo County deputies at the crash were the Mondovi Fire Department and Mondovi Ambulance.
