HOLMEN, Wis. (WKBT) – A $75,000 donation is helping to make a new Boys and Girls Club a reality in our area.

Mayo Clinic Health System made the donation Tuesday at Mayo Clinic Health System’s Holmen location.

The money will support the creation of a Boys and Girls Club in the planned Holmen Area Community Center.

The donation goes towards the $3.5 million campaign to bring the Center into the former Festival Foods location in Holmen.

The donation is important progress for the project.

“We’re where we need to be to begin construction, so construction will begin in Feburary and early in April we hope as the ground thaws, we will break ground for the addition on the current facility,” said Jake Erickson, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater La Crosse executive director.

The campaign is about $1 million dollars short of the fundraising goal.
