A food drive hopes to feed local kids this summer
HOLMEN, Wis. (WKBT) — The Holmen School District hosted the Feed the Bus food drive Saturday to benefit a summer meals program. Organizer say the program helps feed children who may not have access to healthy meals when school lunches are unavailable.
Volunteers could bring non-perishable food from a list of acceptable items to a bus parked at Holmen’s new Kwik Trip. They could also give Kwik Trip gift cards or monetary donations.
The program is put together by Holmen’s Hope, a non-denominational charity organization.
“In the past we’ve only been able to deliver and make lunches three days a week, but with the generous donations that we receive from this community we are able to do it five days a week,” said Patty Bagniewski, Holmen’s Hope’s lead lunch program organizer.
