Packers RB Ahman Green to be inducted into team's Hall of Fame

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WKBT) — Next weekend, a franchise that prides itself on its past will celebrate its storied tradition once more. Ahman Green is one of two Packers that will be inducted into the team’s Hall of Fame.

In the green and gold, Green racked up more than 8,000 yards. He set the team’s single-season rushing mark in 2003 and left as the club’s all-time leading rusher.

“He was reliable, durable, and really just great in the system, and really we just had it down to a T,” said one of his former teammates, lineman Mark Tauscher.

“You play for four, five, six and in Ahman’s case, seven years with a guy, you get a pretty good idea of what the guy’s all about. There’s a reason Ahman is getting inducted into the Packers Hall of fame and that’s because of his production and the preparation he put into it. You just feel happy that you were able to be a part of it.”

Tauscher isn’t the only former Packers player happy for Green. Former fullback William Henderson is just as proud.

“When I first heard this year’s recipient for honors to be in the Packers Hall of Fame, well the one recipient was going to be my little brother, Ahman Green, my face lit up.”

Henderson, of course, isn’t related to Ahman Green. But he says it felt often that way.

“Out of nowhere, one year, I get a phone call on my birthday. It was Ahman Green. This guy had all kinds of things to be worried about in the off-season, not thinking about his fullback. That should be the last thing on his mind. He’s got family, responsibilities. But he took his time, took time out to just call and recognize me as a friend, and I hadn’t gotten that before.”

These are the types of stories that we’ll hear more of next weekend, when Ahman Green enters the Packers Hall of Fame Saturday night.
