Aaron Rodgers brings the humor in promo interview for The Match

In the past few days, all that Packers nation has had to talk about with the Aaron Rodgers issue is team CEO Mark Murphy recounting a story of when Ted Thompson called Rodgers a “complicated fella.”

James Jones downplayed that quote earlier this week, and for his part, Rodgers looks to be having fun with it all.

Rodgers wore an “I’m offended” T-shirt Tuesday for a promotional interview with Tom Brady, Phil Mickelson, and Bryson DeChambeau. Those four athletes are part of the big celebrity golf outing called The Match on July 6.

Turner Sports and Brewers play-by-play broadcaster Brian Anderson tried to have some fun with Rodgers during a 1-on-1 segment about his offseason, joking, “You really have kept a low profile this offseason. I’ve hardly seen your name at all. You haven’t hosted any TV shows or been involved in any controversy or anything.”

Aaron Rodgers replied with a smile, “Thank you, BA. It’s been one of those quiet offseasons you just dream about, where you can can go through your process on your own quietly, and that’s all you can ask for as an older player in the league, someone who’s been around a long time and just enjoys that time to yourself, to just relax, to not be bothered, to not have any obligations.”

During a segment with the other three participants, Tom Brady joked with Rodgers once more about not going for the touchdown on fourth and goal during their NFC Championship game six months ago. Brady said he hopes DeChambeau is encouraging Rodgers on the course to “go for it when it’s on the line.” Rodgers later replied, “Well, I usually don’t get the option.”
