Airfest prepares to return to La Crosse for 2021
Event will have social distancing measures in place
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – The Deke Slayton Airfest will return to the skies over the La Crosse Regional Airport this summer.
Airfest organizers, along with a Blue Angels jet and pilots were in La Crosse Friday for a final site visit.
This year’s event will be a drive-in airshow to allow for social distancing.
For one of the pilots, coming to La Crosse is a chance to see all our area has to offer from a different perspective.
“Once we could see the ground, I was like wow, this is beautiful. I mean it looks really rural, but seeing the farmhouses and the silos and all that was gorgous and then once we saw the river, I presume right? That was just amazing,” said Blue Angel #7 Lt. Julius Bratton.
The last Airfest was in 2014 and was canceled in 2015 due to construction on the I-90 bridge.
