Allen B. Snodgrass Jr.

Allen B. Snodgrass Jr., 81, passed away on Wednesday, October 13, at his home in St. Charles. Allen was born on April 9, 1940, in Hannah City, IL, the son of Allen Snodgrass Sr. and Wilda McCaddon.

Allen attended college in Peoria, IL, after graduating from high school and went on to attend in Mankato, MN, before graduating with a degree in accounting. He met his wife, Valeria “Val” VanHorn while working in Wyoming, and the pair were united in marriage on July 23, 1977, in Casper, WY.
Allen had a fixation with anything under the hood of a car or truck; he was able to work on diesel engine trucks as well as anything with a motor in it. He worked for many years as a parts and equipment expert for various vehicle part stores.
Outside of the garage, Allen always enjoyed tending to his gardens and taking care of anything outside the house. He also loved to simply sit down in his seat next to Val’s at home and read a good book.
Allen will always be remembered by his wife, Val; children, Carrie Ann Creager, Todd Snodgrass, Stacey Snodgrass, Allen Snodgrass; seven grandchildren; sister, Linda (Tom) Schreiber; as well as his nieces, nephews, other extended family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen Sr. and Wilda; son, Clint Allen; daughter, Karen Snodgrass; sister, Betty (Harold) Geding; and son-in-law, Jeffrey Creager.
A private family gathering will be held to celebrate Allen’s life. The Hoff Funeral Home of St. Charles is assisting Allen’s family with arrangements.
