American Legion members will help area veterans this weekend
They will answer questions about disability claims, help for family members and more
LA CROSSE Wis. (WKBT) — Help for our veterans to understand what benefits are available to them is in La Crosse this weekend.
State and National members of the American Legion will be at the French Island post to help any veterans living in our area. They’ll answer questions related to disability claims, end of life planning, help for family members and more.
A spokesman says the health system can be very complicated and there can be a lot of hoops to jump through.
“Depending on what era they served in the military, the nature of their discharge, the amount of income or family household income, they qualify for different levels of benefits,” said David Kurtz, of the Wisconsin American Legion.
The group will be back at the American Legion on French Island from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday and again on Sunday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. It’s open to any veteran, not just American Legion members.
