Animal control officers needed at one local humane society

ONALASKA, Wis. (WKBT) – The Coulee Region Humane Society’s animal control officers are responsible for a lot more than just picking up stray dogs and cats.

Just this past year they took more than 4,600 calls for the animal control officers to respond to and care for more than 1,300 wildlife animals, things like bats, ducks, and possums among others.

The job includes taking vicious animal complaints, rounding up wild animals that pose a risk to the community as well as animal cruelty cases in our area.

Right now, the humane society has a need for two more animal control officers.

“It’s really important to the community, because not only are we taking care of animals and keeping animals safe, we’re keeping the community safe,” said Kristin Stanford, Development Director for Coulee Region Humane Society.

Animal control officers also educate the public on caring for animals, including what to do if you find a stray.

The Humane Society has openings for overnights and weekends.
