Annual Health Summit held in La Crosse

Purpose is to re-energize local health coalitions

Health care professionals and a handful of non-profit organizations are joining together to help make our community healthier.

It was all part of an annual Health Care Summit in La Crosse put on by the La Crosse Medical Health Science Consortium Population Health Committee.

The goal was to brainstorm ideas and make positive changes to benefit the community.

Because of the rising costs of healthcare, the event works to give everyone a chance at a healthy lifestyle.

“We know that taking personal responsibility for our own health matters and is really important. But the truth is, that we don’t all have the same opportunities, it’s not as easy for all of us. Based on where we live or maybe how much income we have or some other challenges that we face, so it’s really important to have those hard conversations about how is our community really serving and creating opportunities for everyone,” said Jordan Bingham, Health Equity Coord. at Public Health Madison and Dane County.

Bingham says other cities look to duplicate what La Crosse has already done so far.
