Annual tournament supports Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater La Crosse basketball program
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater La Crosse hosted its 39th annual McDonald’s Classic Basketball Tournament over the weekend.
More than 100 4th-9th grade boys basketball teams took to the court.
They traveled from across Wisconsin, and there are also a few teams from Minnesota and Iowa.
This is the last big tournament before the season ends for these players.
But over the years it’s also become the most special.
“It’s just really exciting to see everyone coming together to compete throughout the weekend,” said Nick Bernhardt, Athletic Director for the Boys & Girls Club.
Teams played on six different courts in La Crosse, including at schools and athletic centers.
This annual tournament is the biggest fundraiser for the basketball program.
Last year it raised about $25,000.
