Another track and field meet coming to UW-La Crosse
Badger State Games moving from Wausau to Coulee Region
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Another track and field competition is coming to the Veterans Memorial Sports Complex at UW-La Crosse.
The Badger State Games are moving to the Coulee Region for the first time. The event, which will take place Saturday, June 21, 2014, is open to all ages. Medalists qualify for the State Games of America National Track and Field Meet, which takes place in Lincoln, Nebraska on August 1-2, 2015.
According to a news release, event organizers expect to see an increase in participation in La Crosse, mainly because of the venue, as well as the success of the Eagles’ track and field programs.
Participants can compete in up to four events (three if 12 or younger) of their choice and are placed in their respective age divisions. The competition is open to athletes from every state but only Wisconsin and Illinois residents may qualify for the 2015 National meet.
Volunteers are needed, according to the release. Badger State Games is owned and operated by the Sports Authority of the Wausau/Central Wisconsin Convention & Visitors Bureau.
