Anthony’s Day celebrates life of La Crosse man killed in 2020 shooting

Money raised will support The Anthony Fund

LA CROSSE (WKBT) — Community members are celebrating the life of a La Crosse man killed in a 2020 shooting.

Anthony’s Day took place Saturday in La Crosse’s Myrick Park.

It’s a chance to remember Anthony Fimple.

Fimple was killed in a shooting in downtown La Crosse in June of 2020.

The day included music, art, tournaments, food and fun as a way to celebrate the good Anthony brought to the world.

“In order to wrap my mind around to Anthony, I gotta believe that there is kindness out there. So what we want to do is make that a more common place thing,” said Anthony’s father, Gus Fimple.

“When something bad happens, if it inspires people to do good, what happened that day and what that man did, it’s nothing compared to this. It’s over. That memory is done. Anthony is still here,” said event organizer Jake Amundson.

Money raised will support The Anthony Fund, which supports nature conservancy, feeding and sheltering the homeless, as well as assisting elders, all things that were important to Anthony.
