April home sales take a hit in Wisconsin, La Crosse area
Home sales fell more than 11% in April from a year ago
Wisconsin home sales are taking a hit after a long winter. That’s based on new numbers from the Wisconsin Realtors Association.
Home sales fell more than 11% in April compared to a year ago.
Despite the slow month, median prices actually increased to almost $140,000.
The La Crosse area is seeing the drop in numbers as well.
Local realtors blame the slow start to the year on the bitterly cold winter.
“We’re seeing a 6 to 8 week lag period. Homes that were closing in April were people that were looking in February and that was when it was so cold that it’s really putting a damper on the market,” said La Crosse Area Realtor’s Assoc. President-Elect Kent Gabrielsen.
The La Crosse Area Realtors Association says it’s ready for a busy summer now that the weather has warmed up.
