Aquinas boys, girls cross country advance to sectionals

West Salem boys take 2nd to qualify

Aquinas boys and girls cross country took first place at their Division 2 sub-sectional races Tuesday in Westby to advance to this weekend’s sectional.

The boys had four runners finish in the top 10. Andrew Skemp led the way taking second overall with a time of 16:50. West Salem boys cross country finished second as a team to also qualify for sectionals, and West Salem senior Charlie McKinney crossed the line first with a time of 16:29.

The Aquinas girls team finished with a score of 69, 10 ahead of second-place Platteville. Senior Karlie Meyer led Aquinas with a third-place individual finish (19:55).

West Salem sophomore Macey Tauscher (20:26), Prairie du Chien senior Meg Katzung (20:29), and Westby sophomore Audra Johnson (20:37) all qualified as individuals.
