Aquinas volleyball moving forward after frustrating 2020
Before the pandemic, Aquinas volleyball had made it to state competition for two straight years.
They couldn’t make it to three after a loss in sectional play to a strong Platteville squad, but the Blugolds are relying on each other to make it back in 2021.
Led by senior Jacy Weisbrod, the Blugolds have learned to not take full team practices for granted after last year’s almost constant challenges.
“We never had our entire squad together at all last year because of quarantining,” head coach Nellie George said. “We’re hopeful that we all get to continue to start together and finish together.”
“We had people leaving, people being quarantined, it’s hard for people to get into a rhythm,” Weisbrod said. “We had like ten different lineups– it was insane. We can’t wait to just be together for a lot more this year, have a longer season that we did last year.”
With Aquinas’s main gym being redone, the team will start on the road the first couple weeks. The first match is at Tomah next Tuesday.
