Arcadia honors veterans in ‘Wreaths Across America’

ARCADIA, Wis. (WKBT) – Community members placed wreaths on 270 gravesites of fallen veterans Saturday at Soldiers’ Walk-Memorial Park in Arcadia.

The ceremony honored the dedication of veterans and remembered their sacrifices.

One servicemember says honoring all veterans and educating the public about those sacrifices is important.

“There’s still thousands, hundreds upon thousands of wreaths across the United States that we haven’t been able to cover yet,” said Location Coordinator, Steve Ralston. “So, the more we do this every year, that’s our mission to get every grave of a fallen soldier covered.”

There were 291 wreaths in total. Those that weren’t laid on gravesites were placed on monuments at Soldiers Walk.

The event was hosted by Ashley Furniture. The Tickfer-Erickson American Legion, Boy Scout Troop 64 and veterans, active service members and their families participated.
