Arcadia push for new school fails

ARCADIA, Wis. — Voters in Arcadia reject a referendum for a $24 million elementary/middle school.

The school referendum failed 741 votes to 546 votes.

The district says the current elementary/middle school is old and needs to be replaced, with parts of it dating back to 19-14.

District officials say the current building is not energy efficient and it also costs money to bus middle schoolers to the high school for classes.
