Area climate activists voice their opinions over Trump’s policies

Area activists are using President Donald Trump’s 100th day in office as a way to talk about climate change.

Protesters gathered in Cameron Park in downtown La Crosse Saturday for a march, demanding state and federal governments take action in the fight against climate change.

The event is one part of many marches being held internationally, including a demonstration in Washington, D.C., featuring celebrities such as Leonardo DiCaprio.

Area organizers say they want their voices heard by government leaders, including the president.

“We’re here to continue to demand that our American government moves forward on climate action and certainly not backwards as we’ve been unfortunately seeing with President Trump,” said Janett Dean, local organizer of the march.

Protesters voiced their opposition to President’s Trump’s policies toward the Environmental Protection Agency and the Keystone XL pipeline.
