Area students volunteer for Make a Difference Day

Students help out La Crosse businesses

College students spent Saturday volunteering in La Crosse.

Students from UW-La Crosse, Viterbo, and Western Technical College all joined together for National Make a Difference Day.

The students met at Weigent Park where La Crosse Mayor Tim Kabat gave them a send off.

They helped a number of groups including the Eco Park, Hunger Task Force, and the Salvation Army.

“It means a lot, I mean coming from a student perspective and being able to give back to the community. Just to know that we’re helping, know that we are able to reach out to the community that we’re living in. We’re such a big part of the community and being able to reach out further than that just means so much,” said UW-La Crosse Leadership Involvement Center Graduate Assistant Shannon Edminster.

More than 200 students volunteered for the event Saturday.
