Attempted murder victim sues landlord
CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (AP) — A woman who nearly died after an intruder stabbed her in the neck at her rental home in Chippewa County is suing her landlord over a broken door.
Lisa Flint filed a personal injury lawsuit this week against Gilbert and Troy Pecha and their insurance company. Flint was attacked in September 2009 by Danny Tuttle, her daughter’s former boyfriend as she slept on a couch at her trailer home in the Town of Sigel. Tuttle is serving 20 years for the attack.
Flint says the front door to the trailer was in such disrepair that it couldn’t be firmly closed or locked. The Chippewa Herald says the lawsuit alleges the landlords were negligent in their duty to make repairs. The Pechas did not immediately return calls seeking comment.
