Authorities fatally shoot man after Minnesota deputy wounded
BRAINERD, MN (AP) — Authorities say a man in a tree was killed by officers after he shot and wounded a Crow Wing County sheriff’s deputy.
Officers were called to check on someone at a residence near Brainerd Wednesday afternoon. When they arrived, they found the man in a tree with a gun. Officials say the officers were able to talk the man out of the tree, but he climbed back up and shot a deputy in the arm.
Two other officers then shot and killed the man. WCCO says the deputy was treated at a hospital.
The man who was killed has not been identified. But, Sheriff Todd Dahl says deputies have had contact with him in the past.
