Baby falcons born on roof of U.S. Bank in La Crosse

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Three baby falcons were born on the roof of the U.S. Bank building in downtown La Crosse.
On Friday, Raptor Resource Project members checked on the baby falcons so they could be banded.
Raptor Resource Project Director Bob Anderson said the falcons were once endangered due to pesticides like DDT. At one time, there were only about 12 pairs left in the entire country.
Anderson said although these falcon babies are just balls of fluff right now, when they are able to fly and hunt, they will be able to dive at nearly 300 miles per hour.
