Badgers arrive in Buffalo in middle of winter storm
The Wisconsin Badgers landed safely in Buffalo, New York on Tuesday afternoon as they prepare to play in the NCAA tournament.
The National Weather Service says a total of 11.8 inches of snow fell at the Buffalo Airport as of 8:00 p.m.
Minus a slight wait on their departure in Madison the trip went fine even though many flights across the East Coast were delayed or canceled.
“We had a little delay coming out of Madison just with our plane arriving but everything was good,” said Badgers head coach Greg Gard. “Looks like we landed in Wausau or Rhinelander with the weather up here but we’re all good and will be ready to go here soon.”
The team was going to spend the rest of the day Tuesday holding a practice and working on their game plan versus their first round opponent Virginia Tech.
“There’s not many distractions. I think Niagara Falls is iced over right now so everything outside is pretty frigid. But we’re looking forward to just playing basketball and concentrating on Thursday night.”
Thursday’s game between Wisconsin and Virginia Tech will start at approximately 8:40 p.m. and will air on WKBT-TV.
