Bandshell Users Group raises $90,000 for La Crosse Riverside Park project

$90,000 has already been raised for the bandshell proposed for La Crosse’s Riverside Park.

The group of bandstand users, which includes Rotary Lights, Moon Tunes, the La Crosse Concert Band and others, announced the donations Monday. The User Group is hoping to raise a total of $550,000 which will help fund the bandshell planned to be built around the bandstand structure.

“The bandshell for the performers is going to give them cover so when it’s lightly raining, we don’t have any issues, we don’t have to cancel Moon Tunes. For the area it’s just going to be sort of a jewel, a crowning jewel for this area for people to come down and see and see live shows,” said Explore La Crosse Director of Media and Marketing Brent Hanifl.

A little more than a million dollars was approved for La Crosse’ Parks Department which will go towards renovating the current Riverside Park bandstand. That project is expected to wrap up this coming May.

The proposed bandshell will be entirely funded through local fundraising and donations and gifted to the city. The User Group plans on announcing corporate sponsorship opportunities for the bandshell next month.
