Bangor student wins statewide poster contest
BANGOR, Wis. (WKBT) — Some local students are doing their part in keeping children safe.
Students at Bangor Elementary took part in the Missing Children’s Day Poster Contest.
The goal is to raise awareness about child safety and missing children living without their parents.
5th grader Madelyn England from Bangor Elementary took home the top place finish.
She was surprised at school Thursday by her family, peers, and Wisconsin Attorney General Brad Schimel.
Students from across the state submitted entries, but two of the top three finishers came from Bangor Elementary.
“This is a pretty amazing school. These are hard working kids. We got two out of the top three in a statewide contest involving hundreds and hundreds of kids and these guys end up with two of the top ones,” said Schimel.
“We’re just a school that never gives up and if we want to do something, we’ll do it,” said England.
Madelyn’s poster will be submitted in the national competition.
If she wins, she’ll get a free trip to Washington, D.C.
