Barrett, Baldwin decry Great Lakes funding cuts

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and Wisconsin Senator Tammy Baldwin are criticizing proposed cuts for Great Lakes funding.

Barrett and Baldwin say a House GOP plan to reduce spending would harm clean water projects.

Barrett says the proposed cuts are “very concerning for those of us who love and care about the Great Lakes.”

The two Democrats spoke Monday on the first day of the annual meeting of the Great Lakes Commission, being held in Milwaukee.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports they were joined at a news conference by Racine Mayor John Dickert and David Ullrich, executive director of the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Cities Initiative.
