Black River Falls emerges with close win at Sparta

Elliot Bird sank a key go-ahead three pointer down the stretch to help lead Black River Falls over Sparta 64-62 on Thursday.

Bird’s go-ahead shot gave the Tigers a one-point lead with three minutes to go. Both teams traded free throws down the stretch. Black River Falls committed a foul on Sparta with one second left and th eTigers up 64-62.

Sparta missed the first free throw, and then missed the second on purpose to try and generate a final two-point shot, but were unable to do so.

Bird led all scorers with 27 points. Haydn Guns led the Spartans with 22 points.
