Bond raised to $200K for Mason City murder suspect

MASON CITY, Iowa (AP) — Bond has been raised to $200,000 for a 35-year-old man accused of killing a woman at an apartment in Mason City.

Aaron Harris remained in Cerro Gordo County Jail on Thursday. Online court records don’t list the name of his attorney.

Harris is charged with first-degree murder in the slaying of 40-year-old Sarah Winters. She was found unresponsive in the apartment early on Tuesday morning. Police say she was taken to Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, where she was pronounced dead.

A preliminary autopsy report says Winters was strangled.

Harris’ next scheduled court hearing is set for July 20.
