Bonnie J. Erickson

LA CROSSE, Wis. – Bonnie J. Erickson, 83, of La Crosse, formerly of rural Chaseburg, WI, passed away on Tuesday, October 26, 2021. She was born in Vernon County on March 27, 1938, the daughter of Omar and Hazel (Wakefield) Halverson.

On August 15, 1953, Bonnie married Lloyd D. Erickson at the North West Prairie Lutheran Church Parsonage. They lived side-by-side together: farming, raising their family and enjoying married life for 63 years until Lloyd’s passing on August 22, 2016. In addition to farming, Bonnie also worked at Bethany St. Joseph and Quillin’s later in life. She enjoyed occasionally going out to lunch and shopping with her friends, and finding time to get away and gamble.

Bonnie is survived by her children: Betty (Daniel) Sisbach, Diana (Dennis) Norton, Leon Erickson, and Gary (Brenda Hass) Erickson; five grandchildren: Tammy Miller, Crystal Sisbach, Jennifer (Mike Hall) Sisbach, Eddy Norton, Heather Norton; three great-grandchildren: Abigail Miller, and Addyson and Nicholas Hall; a sister-in-law, Sonja Halverson; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Bonnie was preceded in death by her grandson, Bradley Sisbach; two brothers: Aaron and Omar Halverson Jr.; and two nieces, Evelyn Halverson and Donna Serna.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 29, at Thorson-Popp Funeral and Cremation Services in Viroqua, with Rev. Jonathan Rimmert officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Mound Cemetery, Retreat, WI. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services Friday at the funeral home. Thorson-Popp Funeral and Cremation Services in Viroqua is entrusted with her services.
