Bow hunter accidentally shot in head by another hunter
Trempealeau County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate accident
TREMPEALEAU COUNTY, Wis. (WKBT) — A bow hunter has been seriously injured after accidentally being shot in the head by another hunter.
The Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call for a gunshot accident on a property on Marsh Lane in the Gale Township.
Authorities say the victim was treated at the scene by Galesville 1 st Responders and Tri-State Ambulance. Eventually, the victim was airlifted by Medlink to Gundersen Health System with serious injuries.
According to the Trempealeau County Sheriff’s Office, a hunter hunting squirrels thought he saw a squirrel move by a tree and fired at it. Soon after, authorities say the hunter realized he shot a bow hunter who was sitting on the ground leaning up against the tree.
The Wardens of the WI Department of Natural Resources continue to investigate the incident.
The names of the hunters involved have not been released.
Galesville Fire Department and Ettrick 1 st Responders also assisted at the scene.
