Brewers sign Freddy Peralta to contract extension

The Milwaukee Brewers and pitcher Freddy Peralta reportedly agreed on Wednesday to a five-year contract extension worth $15.5 million, along with two club options that could raise the total to $30 million, according to insider Ken Rosenthal.

The team has not yet confirmed the deal.

The 23-year-old has been both a starting pitcher and reliever for Milwaukee since making his team debut in 2018. He is 13-7 in 55 career appearances with a 4.79 ERA.

Peralta has been developing a slider this spring training to bolster a pitching arsenal that features a lively fastball and a curveball. Peralta is one of several contenders to begin the season in the starting rotation.
