Brewers’ Burnes named NL Cy Young finalist

The Baseball Writers Association of America has chosen Burnes as a finalist for the NL Cy Young Award.

Burnes, the Dodgers’ Max Scherzer, and the Phillies’ Zack Wheeler are up for the honor.

Burnes led the NL in strikeouts per nine innings and had the best ERA of 2.43. He went 11-5 in 28 starts in 167 innings with 234 strikeouts.

Craig Counsell is also a finalist for NL Manager of the Year. Winners are announced next week.
