Bridge work underway on Hwy. 53 in La Crosse County
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — Drivers will need to be careful on Hwy. 53 on the bridge over the Black River.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation has begun bridge rehabilitation work on the highway about .6 miles north of the intersection of Hwy. 53 and County Hwy. T.
The bridge is open to one lane of traffic in each direction with periodic flagging operations. Motorists are urged to slow down and anticipate work crews in the area. The work includes converting the existing asphalt shoulder into right-turn lanes at Council Bay and Green Place.
Traffic at the intersections of Council Bay Road and Green Place will be restricted to right-in/right-out only during construction. The project is scheduled for completion in October 2021.
