Bucks trade Sam Merrill to Grizzlies for Grayson Allen
The Bucks continue to make changes to the supporting cast around Giannis, Khris Middleton and Jrue Holiday.
The latest move is to trade last year’s second round pick Sam Merrill and two future second round picks to the Grizzlies for guard Grayson Allen, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Allen might be a polarizing addition for Wisconsinites, because Allen was instrumental in Duke beating the Wisconsin Badgers in the 2015 national championship. Then a freshman, Allen came off the bench and dropped 16 points in 21 minutes to help Duke win 68-63.
Allen also has a history of what some would describe as dirty plays, tripping players in college and getting into fights on the court with players like Atlanta’s Trae Young.
He scored 10 points a game, shot 39 percent from downtown and 87 percent at the line last season for the Grizzlies.
Merrill was one of the Bucks’ two second-round picks last year. A sharpshooter out of Utah State, Merrill only averaged seven minutes a game but was 45 percent from deep.
