Buffalo County plane crash victim identified

DURAND, Wis.  — A Durand man dies after crashing a small aircraft he had recently purchased.

Douglas Kadinger, 40, was the pilot in a a single-seat ultra-light at Durand Airport in the town of Maxville when it crashed during takeoff Sunday morning. Kadinger was killed on impact.

Buffalo County Sheriff Mike Schmidtknecht tells News 8 had just purchased the ultra-light a few weeks ago.

Kadinger left the ground briefly on takeoff before the ultra-light banked and crashed, Schmidtknecht says.

FAA investigators are looking into cause of the crash.
