Burn ban in place for La Crosse County
LA CROSSE, Wis. — A burning ban has been issued for La Crosse County as a period of hot, dry weather continues.
La Crosse County Emergency Management Coordinator Keith Butler announced the ban Thursday morning.
The ban includes outdoor burning, including fire pits and barrels, recreational fires, fireworks, and disposal of cigarettes, cigars and burning materials outdoors.
Campgrounds are not included in the ban, but may issue bans at their discretion.
The Wisconsin DNR has burning bans in place for Crawford, Richland and nine other counties in southern Wisconsin.
The La Crosse area saw record-high temperatures this week, topping 100 degrees, with heat indices in excess of 110 degrees. Cooler temperatures are expected this weekend, along with a chance of rain.
