Cadet Club of La Crosse hosts first annual Veterans Day 5K
Proceeds go towards the Freedom Honor Flight
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) — The Cadet Club of La Crosse held the first ever Veterans Day 5K at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse on Saturday.
Organizers said about 70 people registered for the run/walk
The club president said being able to raise money for veterans is an honor.
“I think for cadets, it’s like we are the future leaders and it’s our way to honor the past and all of the sacrifices they made. So it’s like the future honoring the past,” said Megan Sopkowiak, president of the Cadet Club of La Crosse.
Half of all the proceeds will go towards the Freedom Honor Flight.
Veterans were also able to attend UWL’s football game against Platteville for free on Saturday.
